The deaths begin to happen again, with one of the most original and creepy deaths I’ve ever seen * SPOILERS – Highlight to read the specifics – A family sitting down at a table with a pumpkin in the middle full of gold, with their stomachs cut open and stuffed with candy and toys, in a church with “Happy Halloween For Maria” written in blood on the door. The arc starts to get into the main story after episode 6, with the rest of the family arriving on the island. Jessica during her concert, which Kanon watched from a corner brooding over how crowded it was. She doesn’t deny it, and says she’s planted everything and can’t wait for her banquet (I shiver when I hear the word banquet after this arc…). Kanon accuses her of toying with others feelings and giving them false hope in relationships that would never last. Afterward, Beatrice appears in front of Kanon after he breaks her pretty little hairpin thingy that she had given to Shannon. Once going back, Kanon “politely” refuses Jessica’s feelings.

While there, Kanon watches Jessica’s band’s concert and notices how she acts differently there than she does at the mansion. Kanon accepts, thinking it’s basically an order, and goes with Jessica to her school festival posing as her boyfriend. The second half of the episode deals with Jessica asking out Kanon. Over time, Shannon becomes gullable and befriends Beatrice, even having tea with her by the ocean. Shannon refuses at first, but is given a hairpin by Beatrice that is said to help in her love problems. Beatrice, being the caring witch she is, says she will help Shannon with her relationship problems, only if Shannon breaks a mirror in the shrine located near the entrance to the Island. Shannon then talks to the portrait of Beatrice, crying about her problems. The jerk ones -_-) wouldn’t approve of an “uneducated servant” having a relationship with him. It then cuts back to the Island, where Shannon finds out that George is set to have an arranged marriage, and that the Ushiromiya family (well, some of them. The arc starts off with George Ushiromiya and Shannon (one of the maids in the mansion) out on a date. Once the first arc ended with Beatrice having tea with Bernkastle, I knew that there would be something major going on in the next arc, especially after Bernkastle basically said she’d help you (by you, I’m pretty sure it also means Battler). I have to say, Umineko continues to surprise, impress, mildly disturb and all around make me question sanity itself. *I’m going to have some spoilers in here, so be warned *
